Becoming | Photographic Series by Paola Ahtziri

Becoming explores femininity across different stages of life.

Through gestures, objects and rituals associated with femininity dressing, adorning, looking and being looked at the series observes how our relationship with identity changes over time.

The photographs take place in raw, unfinished environments, intentionally chosen to exist without a defined aesthetic. Against these spaces, each woman creates her own presence.

Femininity is not presented as something finished or fixed, but as something continuously interpreted, inhabited and transformed.

We begin by playing with

who we might become.

We begin to recognize ourselves

beyond what we were taught.

We try on different

versions of ourselves.

We choose what

feels like our own.

Time changes the way

we see ourselves.

There is no final version

of a woman.

We are always becoming.

We are never a finished version of ourselves.

We are constantly changing, discovering and becoming.
